Frequently Asked Questions
F.A.Q.
We know yoga can be intimidating, but we don't want it to be! Let's help get you started, confidently!
I'm new to yoga, where do I start?
As a new yogi, you've come to the right place! For classes, we offer a Zen Alignment class the first Monday of each month at 6:30pm. This is a great class to teach you some basics and break down the poses in a bit more detail.
Hippy Hour, Slow Flow and Zen Restore are also great first-time classes. Each is taught for beginners and practicing yogis alike, There will be modifications & props provided, along with ample cuing to ensure you get the most out of your first class.
Zen Yin is great for anyone who has a heavy lifting or running routine, or just needs some extra TLC to deeply stretch the inner-most connective tissues. Zen Power and Power & Restore offer a faster-paced flow, and you may find yourself breaking a sweat! Savasana is extra blissful after a power sequence!
What should I bring to class?
The Zen Den provides everything for you to just register and show up! No mat, props or fancy yoga attire required! Of course, you can bring your own mat if you'd prefer, but the studio is stocked with Hugger Mugger mats, blankets, blocks, straps and bolsters, which will be set up for you before you arrive.
You may want to bring a water bottle, but we also have complimentary water and mint tea in the studio. There is space near the door to hang your coat, and you're welcome to bring small personal items to your mat.
What should I wear?
For clothing, we suggest whatever makes you feel most comfortable. Depending on the class, you'll be sitting, standing and lying down; so leggings, loose fitting pants and tops all work great. You will be invited to take off your shoes when you arrive. You can certainly wear your socks during class, but we recommend taking them off when doing any sort of flow or downward dog, to prevent slipping.
Comfort is KEY! In the summer, lighter clothing may be best for the studio as temps rise, and in the winter, its not a bad idea to wear an extra layer. We have AC and heat, but it's nice to regulate your temperature with layers! Coming straight from work? There is a bathroom in our hallway if you need to change!
What is unique about the Zen Den?
The Zen Den prides itself on being a safe and inclusive space to practice yoga. We provide a bunch of thoughtful touches so you can retreat from the outside world and take an hour to care for yourself.
Between mood lighting, lit candles, eye pillows, essential oils and great music, we're confident you'll have an experience that leaves you feeling loved & restored. While there are many studios in the area, at the Zen Den, the vibes are just as important as the yoga practice. We're all about self-care and you will feel it from the moment you arrive and your space is set up for you, to when you settle into savasana and enjoy a bit of pampering with an eye pillow and essential oils wafted above you.
Our small class size creates an intimate setting that can be difficult to accomplish in larger studios. We can't wait for you to check us out & see what it's all about!
